Overview
Ammonium Persulfate is a strong oxidizer commonly used as an oxidizing agent, particularly in the preparation of polymer materials. In polymerization reactions, ammonium persulfate is often used as a radical initiator to start the polymerization process. When ammonium persulfate is added to a mixture of monomers and a suitable solvent, it can generate free radicals that react with the monomers to form polymer chains.
The combination of ammonium persulfate and TEMED can provide a more efficient and controlled polymerization process, especially for the production of polyacrylamide gels in electrophoresis or other applications.
