Papaya ringspot virus (PRSV) is a pathogen of the Potyvirus genus, which constitutes the main problem in papaya cultivation worldwide. This virus affects the majority of producing countries, leading to one of the most economically significant diseases due to decreased yield and compromised fruit quality. The virus is mainly transmitted by 20 different species of aphids, with chlorosis and/or irregular dark green blisters observed on the leaves, and small rings on the green fruit and stem.
PhytoDETECT® PRSV RT-PCR Kit allows an efficient cDNA synthesis and a final time PCR in a single tube. The kit includes a RT Mix that comprises a balanced mixture of reverse transcriptase and RNase inhibitor, and a PCR Master Mix provided at a 2x concentration. Additionally, the kit includes a set of optimally designed primers to detect the PRSV virus through agarose gel electrophoresis.
PhytoDETECT® PRSV RT-PCR Kit contains a positive amplification control (PAC) to demonstrate that the PCR is being performed efficiently with the supplied components. To confirm the absence of contamination, a negative control reaction should be included each time the kit is used.
Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
