Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV) is one of the most recently characterized species of the Tobamovirus genus. It has shown rapid global spread, although it was first described in 2013. The complete genome of the virus consists of a single-stranded positive-sense RNA molecule. The virus infects tomatoes and peppers, causing symptoms such as leaf distortion, mosaic, mottling, and necrosis. The virus is transmitted mechanically, through infected soils, and to a high percentage through seeds.
PhytoDETECT® ToMMV RT-PCR Kit allows an efficient cDNA synthesis and a final time PCR in a single tube. The kit includes a RT Mix that comprises a balanced mixture of reverse transcriptase and RNase inhibitor, and a PCR Master Mix provided at a 2x concentration. Additionally, the kit includes a set of optimally designed primers to detect the ToMMV virus through agarose gel electrophoresis.
PhytoDETECT® ToMMV RT-PCR Kit contains a positive amplification control (PAC) to demonstrate that the PCR is being performed efficiently with the supplied components. To confirm the absence of contamination, a negative control reaction should be included each time the kit is used.
