Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) is a pathogen belonging to the Tobamovirus genus, widely distributed worldwide and infecting a long list of plants including tomato, pepper, tobacco, and eggplant. The virus is transmitted through mechanical contact and by seeds. Symptoms are highly variable depending on the isolate, cultivar, timing of infection, and environmental conditions, and can include leaf mosaics, leaf reduction or deformation, necrosis, and fruits with spots or irregular ripening.
PhytoDETECT® ToMV RT-PCR Kit allows an efficient cDNA synthesis and a final time PCR in a single tube. The kit includes a RT Mix that comprises a balanced mixture of reverse transcriptase and RNase inhibitor, and a PCR Master Mix provided at a 2x concentration. Additionally, the kit includes a set of optimally designed primers to detect the TOMV virus through agarose gel electrophoresis.
PhytoDETECT® ToMV RT-PCR Kit contains a positive amplification control (PAC) to demonstrate that the PCR is being performed efficiently with the supplied components. To confirm the absence of contamination, a negative control reaction should be included each time the kit is used.
